Lyles Victor Parachini

The son of Hadley Boyd and John Parachini and younger brother of Julia Parachini, Lyles was born at Sibley Hospital on March 25, 2004 and lived on Davis Street in Massachusetts Heights. From before he could walk, he loved to play at Guy Mason Park. His favorite activities were climbing up the circular slide and digging in the sand box.

Lyles was a founding member of a spirited two-year old neighborhood play group. He enjoyed playing each week with his friends Ben and Eve Shulman, Daniel Sipes and Mateo Fretas.

In June 2006, Lyles was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia. He was treated at Johns Hopkins Children’s Hospital in Baltimore where he underwent a bone marrow transplant in October. He died on March 23, 2007, two days before his third birthday.

A memorial service was held for Lyles on April 7th at the Westmoreland United Congregational Church of Christ, where he was remembered as a little boy with happy feet and always ready with a hug and kiss for those he loved. In addition to his parents and sister, Lyles is survived by his grandmother, Barbara Boyd, of Glover Park and grandparents Anne and Victor Parachini of Orinda, CA.
